Sort of like a yellow light - "I can still have that slice of pizza and cut back on the bad stuff tomorrow."

Science loves to puncture rationalizations. A recent study used 1111 non-diabetic patients aged 55 years or older with a systolic blood pressure of 150 or higher were recruited in Italy. Patients were randomly assigned to a target systolic blood pressure of less than 140 or less than 130.

The results were published recently in The Lancet:
Although the number of events of clinical outcome was small, coronary revascularisation and new-onset atrial fibrillation were significantly less frequent in the tight - control group . . . the results lend support to a lower blood pressure goal than is recommended at present.

Getting started curing my high blood pressure!

Okay, I'm getting serious about my high blood pressure!
